Video Shows Russian Mi-28 Attack Helicopter Firing a Low-Cost Cruise Missile

Russia's Defense Ministry released video of a Mi-28NM attack helicopter firing a small, low-cost cruise missile, likely the Banderol or the similar Dan-T, which Ukrainian intelligence says can fly up to about 310 miles.

Until now the helicopter's longest-range weapon reached just over nine miles, so the missile gives a fleet that has lost at least 21 aircraft since 2022 a way to strike from far outside Ukrainian air defenses. READ ›

Following the Money to Haiti

By Dino Garner, CRUCIBEL Journal

A SOFX reader who served in Haiti after the 2010 earthquake asked us what happened to the more than $16 billion raised for recovery, and whether it connects to the crisis there today. We took the question to senior contributor Dino Garner, whose latest Vector report finds that most of it never reached the Haitian state.

By his count, only about a tenth of what public donors paid out by 2012 went through Haitian government systems, and less than 1% of humanitarian money did, because donors routed it around a government they did not trust. The one pool Haiti controlled itself, about $2 billion in PetroCaribe oil money, was later found by Haiti’s own auditors to have been managed fraudulently and often illegally.

He warns the 2026 security push is repeating the pattern, with the UN-backed force about a fifth funded and Salvadoran troops arriving without a status-of-forces agreement. His fix is to send the next dollar through Haiti’s customs and treasury under foreign co-signature controls, as Liberia did in 2005.
