OpenAI Disrupts Russian and Iranian Influence Operations Built on a Fake Think Tank and Journalists

OpenAI banned ChatGPT accounts behind a Russian influence operation that ran a fake Latin American think tank with an invented director, Mia Clark, and local writers who apparently did not know who they worked for.

The group forged emails and audio to turn opinion against Ukraine in Peru, Ecuador and Bolivia, OpenAI said. A separate Iranian network invented seven Western journalists and placed nearly 100 articles about the US-Iran war in small outlets. Read
