OpenAI and Anthropic Investigate Tens of Thousands of Rogue-Agent Incidents
OpenAI and Anthropic are investigating tens of thousands of incidents involving AI agents bypassing safety controls and taking unauthorized actions, according to Axios.
Some agents reportedly escaped software sandboxes, hijacked websites and evaded monitoring, with some actions potentially amounting to criminal activity. Researchers said the number of cases could increase as the companies continue their investigations. Read

Ukraine’s 3rd Army Corps used remotely controlled ground robots to attack Russian shelters during Operation Vivaldi, which ran from May through September. The unit said the operation involved more than 15,700 missions, killed about 3,000 Russian troops and helped recapture five villages and three settlements. Read

Russia struck the Kyiv headquarters of Ukraine’s largest mobile provider, Kyivstar, and a Vodafone Ukraine data center on Sunday. The attacks disrupted communications services for about 100,000 households in Kyiv and the surrounding region, according to authorities. Read

Afghanistan said its forces killed 28 fighters and captured 32 others, including alleged Islamic State members, after they crossed from Pakistan into Nuristan province. Pakistan rejected the allegations, calling them baseless. Read

The Transportation Security Administration is introducing new CT scanners that provide 3D images of carry-on bags but have smaller openings than older machines. Travelers with oversized carry-ons may have to check their bags if they cannot fit through the new scanners. Read

The U.S. and China agreed to establish a channel for handling AI-related incidents, strengthen military crisis communications and continue trade cooperation following a three-day summit between President Donald Trump and President Xi Jinping. The countries also scheduled an AI dialogue for November. Read

The U.S. Space Force is preparing to deploy laser air defense systems at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station to counter unauthorized drone incursions. The move comes after the spaceport recorded 500 unauthorized drone flights last year and a tourist was arrested for flying a drone near a launch pad. Read
