Google to Block Search Access for Schools That Disable AI Features
Google will disable Search, Gemini, Gemini Notebook and Gemini in Classroom by default for K-12 student accounts unless school administrators enable them. Announced Tuesday alongside new AI features, the policy gives schools greater control over students' access to Google's AI tools.
New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani and former FTC Chair Lina Khan criticized the move to restrict Search at schools that disable AI, accusing Google of using its search dominance to pressure schools into adopting the technology. Read

Zuri Uncrewed Cargo VTOL: Helicopter Access, Fixed-Wing Range
The hardest leg of resupply is the last one. Getting rations, ammunition, spares or blood to a forward unit still means tying up a helicopter and its crew, or waiting most of a day for a road convoy. Helicopters reach the spot, but they are expensive to fly and put people at risk. Fixed-wing aircraft cover the distance, but they need a runway.
Zuri’s uncrewed cargo VTOL takes off and lands vertically, then flies on the wing. It is designed to carry 115 kg (254 lb) up to 569 km (354 mi) with a 30-minute reserve, cruising at 220 km/h (137 mph). One remote operator flies it, with no one aboard. It runs on fuel already at the base and needs no runway, charger or new infrastructure. It is ITAR-free, built in Prague and designed for NATO interoperability. It covers austere resupply, ISR and comms relay, contested logistics and medevac support, without putting a crew on the riskiest leg.

Uncrewed Cargo VTOL. 100+ kg, No Runway.
Eight rotors for vertical takeoff and landing, a wing for range, and a hybrid-electric powertrain that refuels in minutes. Zuri’s uncrewed cargo VTOL carries up to 145 kg (320 lb): a sealed cargo bay, plus a belly pod swapped on the ground between more cargo, sensors and a communications relay. It is designed to keep flying when things go wrong: controllable after a rotor failure, the battery carrying the landing if the generator fails, and an independent vision stack navigating when GNSS is jammed or spoofed. It is built on Zuri’s Technology Demonstrator 2.0, now in ground test in Prague, with first flight planned for Q2 2027.

The Engine Inside Zuri’s TD 2.0
In Zuri’s hybrid tiltrotor, the engine never turns a propeller. It drives a generator that powers the electric motors. Norwegian engine builder EdgePerformance modified a Rotax 912 ULS for the job: 93 kW (125 hp) against 73.5 kW (100 hp) stock, 57 kg (126 lb) dry, running on MOGAS or ethanol blends up to E100. After its first public run in Prague, it shows at Future Forces Exhibition and Forum, Prague, October 21 to 23, then heads to power and thermal testing under load.
