China's coast guard spent the summer working the Pacific side of Taiwan, the ocean-facing coast any resupply from Japan or Guam would need. Cutters there hailed merchant ships for their crew counts, and a Singapore-flagged container ship answered.

Iran-backed Houthi rebels seized Yemen’s Red Sea port city of Mokha, bringing them closer to the strategic Bab el-Mandeb Strait. Saudi Arabia responded with about 40 airstrikes across Yemen. Read

NATO allies Britain, Norway, and the U.S. detected and intercepted Russian submarines near Norway’s Svalbard archipelago during a Russian exercise involving a secret weapon designed to disable critical undersea cables. The joint operation forced the Russian vessels to leave the area, and no subsea cables were damaged. Read

An Iranian ballistic missile attack on Muwaffaq Salti Air Base in Jordan damaged one U.S. A-10 and about eight F-15E fighters. No U.S. personnel were killed in the attack, which followed U.S. strikes on Iranian tankers. Read

Florida sued Netflix, accusing the streamer of tracking children's viewing data after promising families privacy. Attorney General James Uthmeier said Netflix built an advertising business on that data, violating the state's digital privacy law. Netflix called the suit meritless. Read

IDScan, a company that verifies IDs for banks and casinos, confirmed hackers stole more than 150 million driver’s license records from its cloud systems. The confirmation came after a dark-web listing attempted to sell 153 million stolen license scans, including one belonging to War Secretary Pete Hegseth. Read
