Binance Suffers Record $6.3 Billion Theft Tied to North Korean Hackers

Binance, the world's largest cryptocurrency exchange, lost an estimated $6.3 billion Thursday in the largest crypto theft on record, and blockchain analytics firms linked it to North Korea's TraderTraitor hacking unit.

Binance first blamed a hacked engineer's laptop, but co-CEO Richard Teng said investigators found more points of breach and a "self-destruct mechanism" that destroyed the hackers' tools and traces. About $3 billion has been frozen, and the theft is four times the $1.5 billion Bybit heist in 2025. READ ›

The Diesel Clause

By Dino Garner, CRUCIBEL Journal

Garner argues that Russia is losing three wars in Ukraine, over territory, refineries and its budget, but winning a fourth in Washington.

He points to four US moves in 20 days: a license exempting Russian diesel from sanctions, an energy ceasefire announced before either side confirmed it, an order waiving most of Congress's new Russia sanctions law and a 10-day slowdown of the satellite link carrying Ukraine's drone war.

All four, he writes, were aimed at Ukraine's refinery strikes, which cut Russian diesel output by nearly 30% and forced Moscow to ban diesel exports. With peace talks set for after the US midterms, he closes with six dated predictions readers can grade.

Binance Hack, Cyber Threats, Market Dump

By Arbitrage Andy, author of the ARB Letter

Arbitrage Andy, who writes the ARB Letter on markets, crypto and global news, argues that a week of cyber incidents, a record crypto theft and a sharp tech selloff are warning signs, and that readers should prepare without panicking.

He walks through a single day of headlines, from the Binance theft and a crypto sell-off to suspected hacks of military base freezers and a Ukrainian strike on a Russian refinery. In a world that runs almost entirely online, he argues, the likeliest major disruption is digital, whether a grid failure, a bank hack or a blackout.

He sketches what that could look like, from hospitals losing power to stalled supply chains, and says he is stocking water, batteries and shelf-stable food. On markets, he urges readers to buy gradually, keep cash on hand and spread their holdings across banks, cold storage and physical metals.
